Many of the new features and upgrades we apply to our map and wayfinding platform come directly from real world situations provided to us by our customers and these tend to be most practical and impactful on the overall user experience
With services for PRM (Passengers with Reduced Mobility) at the forefront of airports agenda as they strive to deliver an inclusive digital experience, we looked at how we can support this from a map and wayfinding angle
The first step was to make sure that accessible restrooms were clearly marked and searchable within the map environment, the second step was to enable users to search PRM related areas / restrooms along a particular route. i.e., if you create a route from the Check-in area to your Gate, you can now clearly identify all appropriate toilets on that route, where they are and how long it will take to get there
The airport map is now becoming more of a personal companion and it’s important we continue to look at ways to improve the passenger experience by providing the right information at the right time
To support this use case and others, we developed these key features:
Ø Multi-point wayfinding
Ø Search along a route
Ø Wayfinding route styling options
These features apply to all venues and we are currently implementing them to support applications such as an itinerary planner
